Michael Bartok was like many people who move to Southern Nevada to escape cold weather and slow down after a successful career as a business owner. He definitely found the warm weather but also an entirely new career and community to embrace and love.
Bartok moved to Henderson from Cleveland in 2002 and, like others, became involved in real estate. Through a fortuitous meeting to discuss selling a piece of commercial property with Peggy Cole, Henderson Valley Realty owner and 45-year city resident, he came away a day later with an agreement to buy the real estate agency followed by a 30-day closing.
“It was a blessing for both Peggy and I; we just clicked,” Bartok recalls of the initial meeting that lasted three hours. “She passed on a wealth of information and history about Henderson to me. I am truly honored to continue her legacy as the broker and owner of Henderson Valley Realty.”
Bartok has taken that to heart, growing the agency and becoming very active in the Henderson community, chamber and redevelopment efforts, including membership in the Water Street District Business Association. “I want to give back to the city that has been so good to me, and assist in downtown Henderson redevelopment and sustaining it as a lively business environment,” he said.
Henderson Valley Realty has been in downtown Henderson for 18 years. Though Bartok could have relocated the office to newer areas, he likes the proximity to City Hall and the feeling of community among the local business owners with the Water Street District Business Association. “The City of Henderson embraces our suggestions and is working closely with the association for mutual success in the downtown area,” he said.
Twelve real estate agents and one administrative assistant make up the Henderson Valley Realty team. “Everyone has at least five years of experience in the Southern Nevada real estate market,” Bartok said. “Plus our team’s diverse backgrounds, including war veterans, a retired NYPD police captain, immigrants and a combo CPA/MBA, provide a wealth of information and life experiences beneficial to our clients.”
The company is approved by lenders to negotiate short sales for sellers, and is working with the Henderson Redevelopment Agency to continue to stimulate growth and renovation. In fact, Henderson Valley Realty recently represented two businesses in the acquisition and renovation of two properties within the Henderson Downtown Redevelopment Area: Springtime Floral and Garrett Cooper, CPA, Tax Service, both located on Lake Mead Blvd. near Water Street.
Henderson Valley Realty is open from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m., Monday through Friday, and by appointment, evenings and weekends, by calling the office at 702-568-5558.
